When I drew up The Runaway, I was thinking about that small lake cottage you escape to when the week has been too long. This 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath lakefront cottage plan gives you 1,543 square feet of easygoing space across two stories – enough room to bring the family, small enough to lock up and leave without worry.
The main floor covers 927 square feet with an open living layout that puts the kitchen, dining, and living room all in one connected space. A stone fireplace anchors the room and makes winter weekends feel like exactly where you are supposed to be. The second floor adds 616 square feet with two bedrooms and a jack and jill bath – a setup that keeps the kids or guests happy without doubling your plumbing costs.
A front porch sets the tone when you pull up, and an open deck off the back puts you right where the view is. The footprint is 42 feet wide by 40 feet deep, specifically drawn for small and narrow lots close to the water. No garage – just the house, the porch, and the lake.
Plans for The Runaway are $1,495. If this is your kind of place, you will want to see the Lake James Cabin, Waterview Cabin, and Mossy Creek Cabin.

Builder Insight
I designed the The Runaway with the waterfront in mind from day one — not as an afterthought. The living spaces face the water, the porches connect each level to the outdoors, and the layout is built for the way people actually use a lake house. If your lot drops toward the water, this plan turns that terrain into an asset.
