How I designed this plan.

When I drew up The Runaway, I was thinking about that small lake cottage you escape to when the week has been too long. This 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath lakefront cottage plan gives you 1,543 square feet of easygoing space across two stories – enough room to bring the family, small enough to lock up and leave without worry.

The main floor covers 927 square feet with an open living layout that puts the kitchen, dining, and living room all in one connected space. A stone fireplace anchors the room and makes winter weekends feel like exactly where you are supposed to be. The second floor adds 616 square feet with two bedrooms and a jack and jill bath – a setup that keeps the kids or guests happy without doubling your plumbing costs.

A front porch sets the tone when you pull up, and an open deck off the back puts you right where the view is. The footprint is 42 feet wide by 40 feet deep, specifically drawn for small and narrow lots close to the water. No garage – just the house, the porch, and the lake. Plans for The Runaway are $1,495.

If this is your kind of place, you will want to see the Lake James Cabin, Waterview Cabin, and Mossy Creek Cabin.

Common Questions

Before you buy.

What is included in the The Runaway house plan set?+

Available as a PDF plan set ($1,495) or editable CAD files ($1,950). Can the The Runaway plan be modified?+

Common changes include adjusting bedroom count, resizing rooms, changing exterior materials, or adapting for a specific lot. Typical turnaround is 2 to 4 weeks. Contact Max Fulbright Designs at (770) 301-4214 or [email protected] for a free consultation and quote.

Does the The Runaway plan require a structural engineer's stamp?+

Stock plans do not include a professional engineer's stamp. Many US jurisdictions require a licensed engineer in your state to review and stamp the plans before permit submission. Check with your local building department before purchasing. This is a standard industry practice and is not unique to Max Fulbright Designs.

Who designed the The Runaway house plan?+

The The Runaway house plan was drawn personally by Max Fulbright Sr., the founder of Max Fulbright Designs. Max is a Georgia Institute of Technology-trained engineer who has designed and personally built more than 500 custom homes since founding the firm in 1990. Every plan in the Max Fulbright Designs catalog is drawn by Max himself.

Can I build the The Runaway house plan in any US state?+

Yes. Max Fulbright Designs has delivered more than 12,000 plans to homeowners and builders in all 50 US states and Canada. The The Runaway plan is drawn to general residential construction standards that work in most US jurisdictions, though local building codes vary and should be reviewed with your builder before construction.
