I designed Camp Stone as a 5-bedroom, 3.5-bath timber frame home that delivers 4,861 square feet across two to three stories with an optional detached garage. This is the plan for the buyer who wants a true mountain lodge, a home with a bridge, a loft, a study, and a vaulted great room that makes every guest stop in their tracks.

The main level holds 2,102 square feet with a vaulted great room that showcases the timber frame construction at its best. The first-floor master bedroom keeps the primary suite on the main level, and the open living layout connects kitchen, dining, and living through one flowing space. A mud room catches the mess at the entry. Upstairs, 657 square feet adds a loft, study, and bedroom connected by a bridge that spans the great room below. The lower level mirrors the main floor with 2,102 square feet holding a recreation room and additional bedrooms. Nine-foot ceilings on the main level keep the standard spaces proportioned while the vaulted great room soars.

A front porch, screened porch, open deck, and covered patio give you outdoor living on every level. At 56 feet 8 inches wide by 61 feet 8 inches deep on sloping lake and mountain lots, this plan takes full advantage of terrain changes. The optional detached garage keeps the main home focused on living, not parking. This is a timber frame lodge built for generations.

The Camp Stone plan is available for $1,495. For more large mountain homes, see Baker Lake Cottage, Hunter’s Bend, Banning Mills Lodge, and Asheville Cottage.

Builder Insight

I designed the Camp Stone for the kind of site most house plans treat as a problem — a lot with real grade change. The walkout lower level, deep covered porches, and vertical massing are all intentional. Slope is an asset in the right design. This plan uses it.
