The Watersound Cottage is a 5 to 6-bedroom, 3.5-bath cottage that packs 1,719 square feet across three stories on a sloping lot. I designed this plan for families who need maximum bedrooms in a compact footprint, with a double-sided stone fireplace and open living that makes the main floor the gathering place for everyone.
The main level holds 1,234 square feet with a vaulted family room, open living layout, and nine-foot ceilings throughout. The double-sided stone fireplace warms both the living area and the adjacent space, serving as the heart of the home. Upstairs, 485 square feet adds bedrooms and a more intimate second floor. The unfinished lower level at 1,220 square feet is ready for an office, recreation room, and flex room whenever you are ready to finish it, giving you serious expansion potential on a sloping site.
An entry porch, rear porch, screened porch, and covered patio give you outdoor living on every level. At 46 feet wide by 45 feet deep with a golf cart garage, this cottage fits sloping lots and corner lots without an oversized footprint. Getting five to six bedrooms in under 1,720 finished square feet is a feat most plans cannot match. It is the kind of efficiency that makes this plan a natural choice for vacation rentals and large families alike.
The Watersound Cottage plan is available for $1,495. Similar multi-bedroom cottage plans include Foothill’s Cottage, Acadia Mountain Cottage, Autumn Place, and Stone Ridge Cottage.

Builder Insight
I designed the Watersound Cottage with the waterfront in mind from day one — not as an afterthought. The living spaces face the water, the porches connect each level to the outdoors, and the layout is built for the way people actually use a lake house. If your lot drops toward the water, this plan turns that terrain into an asset.
