How I designed this plan.
I designed the Sunset Cottage as a one-story cottage house plan for people who want everything on a single level without sacrificing character. With 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and 1,837 square feet all on the main floor, this plan proves that single-story living can feel spacious, warm, and full of personality.
The open living area is the soul of this home, with vaulted ceilings stretching across the family room and kitchen to create one generous, light-filled space. Two stone fireplaces anchor the design, one in the family room and one in the screened porch, which means you have a fire to gather around no matter the season.
The layout separates the master suite from the secondary bedrooms for privacy, and the flow from kitchen to living to outdoor spaces feels effortless. No stairs, no wasted hallways, just smart design. Outside, the screened porch and covered porch give you true three-season outdoor living, and the stoop entry keeps the front elevation clean and welcoming.
The 2-car garage fits within the 56-foot by 65-foot-10-inch footprint, and the plan is designed for narrow lots so you are not limited to oversized properties. Each plan set includes dimensioned floor plans for all levels, front, side, and rear elevations at 1/4" scale with notes and dimensions, a foundation plan for the version supplied, and roof plan. Additional foundation options are available separately and are not included in the plan price. Please inquire before ordering to confirm whether we have the version you need. Available as a PDF plan set ($1,495) or editable CAD files ($1,950). Electrical plans are not included because they are customer-specific and finalized on site with your builder and electrician after framing.
Can the Sunset Cottage plan be modified?+
Yes. Modifications are one of the most common services we provide. Our in-house design team handles all modifications directly. Does the Sunset Cottage plan require a structural engineer's stamp?+
Stock plans do not include a professional engineer's stamp. Many US jurisdictions require a licensed engineer in your state to review and stamp the plans before permit submission. Check with your local building department before purchasing. This is a standard industry practice and is not unique to Max Fulbright Designs.
Who designed the Sunset Cottage plan?+
